Phi Delta Kappan for iPad

Phi Delta Kappan for iPad

Description

Each year, the PDK/Gallup poll asks Americans what they’re thinking about education in the United States. How do Americans grade President Obama’s performance on education? What do Americans believe is the best way to improve education? Do they support charter schools or merit pay for teachers?

See the complete results of the 2010 PDK/Gallup Poll on the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools. Included are the 40 questions asked of Americans and and tables with the results along with expert commentary.

The poll is conducted annually by Phi Delta Kappa International (PDK) in conjunction with Gallup. The 2010 poll is based on telephone interviews with a sample of 1, 008 American adults.

Very disconcerting that the app requires you to register in the aether!

:
Why should we have to register to use an app, especially one that is for a professional education organisation? There is no explanation of that here, nor in the app, nor is there any description of the company. You launch the app and are greeted with a corporate triangular logo, with a forced choice of old or new account. Is one going to have to log in each time one wants to use the app? Are they tracking something?

The fields for setting up the user name and password are black and tiny--and cannot be pinched zoomed. The text is grey, making it hard to read what one is tapping in. So, even the design for getting in is poor.

Furthermore, the login process claims to have succeeded -- a message thanking you for registering with PDK/Gallop (you're not, you're registering with a 3rd party company), yet, nevertheless, the log in did NOT take. One sits in the aether for ages, watching a grey background with the spinning circle. Spin and spin! If it's downloading the report, it's taking forever and should notify you of what it's doing. Eventually the grey screen goes black as the iPad as gone to sleep. I've gone through the process multiple times (grey to black, sleep, unlock, grey, black, sleep). Relaunching returns you to the log in screen, where your previously and, I must say, laboriously entered user name and password are REJECTED. In fact, I still haven't gotten to use the app.

I wonder if PDK and Gallop know of this travesty! Trifecta, you should be embarrassed!
